Runs through Zapier → Darwin + Microsoft Teams Open API settings ↗
Darwin tells your team in Microsoft Teams while the visitor is still on your site: a new lead, a visitor asking for a person, or a meeting booked from the chat, each with a link to the conversation.
This connection runs through Zapier: Darwin’s Zapier app starts the Zap and Zapier’s Microsoft Teams app does the work in Microsoft Teams. You choose the fields. This recipe is a two-step Zap, which Zapier’s free plan includes.
Before you start
- A paid Microsoft 365 business or enterprise plan that includes Teams. Microsoft Teams Free accounts can’t connect to Zapier.
- A Microsoft 365 admin may need to approve the Zapier app in Teams.
- Darwin added to your Zapier account and a Darwin key for Zapier. Connect Zapier covers both in two minutes.
Alert a channel when a visitor asks for a person
1
Choose the Darwin trigger
In Zapier, create a Zap. For the trigger, choose Darwin and the event Visitor Asked for a Person. Connect your Darwin account with the key, then select Test trigger to load a sample.
2
Add the Microsoft Teams action
Choose Microsoft Teams as the action app and the event Send Channel Message, connect your Microsoft account, and pick the team and channel.
3
Map the fields
Write the message and insert Darwin’s fields where you want them. For example:
4
Test and publish
Test the action, check the result in Microsoft Teams, then publish the Zap. The next request for a person shows up in the channel within seconds.
More alerts worth setting up
- New Lead to your sales channel, with the visitor’s name, email, page and Darwin url.
- Meeting Booked to your team channel, with the meeting time.
Good to know
- Each alert is its own two-step Zap, so all of them work on Zapier’s free plan.
- To message one person, use Send Chat Message.

Is this a native Microsoft Teams integration?

No. It runs through Zapier: Darwin’s Zapier app starts the Zap and Zapier’s Microsoft Teams app posts the message. You write the message.

Preview conversations never start a Zap, so testing your agent doesn’t fill your tools. Chat on your live website to test end to end, or use the samples from Test trigger.
