Open Guided setup. Darwin can do the first round of research and configuration, leaving you to check the details that matter to your business.1
Give Darwin your website
Enter your workspace name and public website address, then select Prepare my assistant. Darwin looks for your sitemap and homepage links, prioritizes product, pricing, and common buying questions, and reads up to 12 pages for this first draft. This does not install a widget or make your assistant public.
2
Review the business context and sources
Check Business context for an accurate description of what you sell and who you help. Open Review selected knowledge pages and uncheck anything that should not inform answers. Failed pages are excluded. The assistant’s name, opening message, personality, and behavior are editable. Expand Fine-tune behavior and welcome messages for the detailed instructions and suggested questions. Pay particular attention to missing details listed under A few things to check.
3
Check the look of your chat
Darwin suggests a primary color, accent color, surface color, font, and brand image from your website. Adjust the colors or font and use Opening and Chat to inspect the real widget components. This is a design preview. It does not test answer quality or book meetings. If the detected style is not right, adjust it here or leave Apply this design with the draft unchecked. The full Widget appearance editor remains available afterward.
4
Save and connect a calendar
Choose Save & connect calendar. Selected readable pages are imported, and your reviewed assistant settings are saved together. Add the public scheduling link your team already uses and open it to confirm the correct team and available times.Saving a link does not authenticate a calendar account or verify a real booking. See Scheduling for those limits.
5
Try a real conversation
Use the private preview to ask a pricing question, a fit question, and something your pages do not answer. Check the answer against your source material. Then test the booking journey before installation.Test your assistant →
If you leave or something fails
Preparation saves after each stage. Return to Review your assistant to resume. Retry this step continues from saved progress; Prepare again starts a new draft. Up to five new drafts can be started per workspace in 24 hours. If automatic writing is unavailable, Darwin labels the result Starter draft and collects website content for you to edit. This is not an AI-written business summary. You can use Set up manually instead when automatic preparation cannot read your site. If another administrator changes the assistant settings or design before you save, Darwin asks you to prepare a new draft instead of overwriting their changes. What to expect from website research
- The first pass stays on your website and its
wwwalias. Add a separate documentation domain later in Settings → Knowledge. - Public HTML pages work best. Login-only content and sites that render all their content through JavaScript may need manual business context.
- Detected styles are suggestions, not a complete reconstruction of your website’s design system. External stylesheets or unsupported color formats may produce an editable starter palette.
- Imported content is immediately available for keyword search. Update search index in Knowledge adds semantic coverage when available.
- The initial 12-page research limit is separate from your plan’s optimized-page allowance. Import more useful pages in Knowledge.
You are ready to continue when the business context is accurate, the selected sources are relevant, the chat looks like your brand, and the scheduling link belongs to the right team.
