# Send leads to Slack

> Post to a Slack channel the moment a visitor leaves their details in Darwin's website chat or asks for a person, through Zapier and without code.

<div className="darwin-location"><strong>Runs through</strong> Zapier → Darwin + Slack <a href="https://app.meetdarwin.ai/admin/settings/api">Open API settings ↗</a></div>

Darwin tells your team in Slack while the visitor is still on your site: a new lead, a visitor asking for a person, or a meeting booked from the chat, each with a link to the conversation.

<Note>
  This connection runs through Zapier: Darwin's Zapier app starts the Zap and Zapier's Slack app does the work in Slack. You choose the fields. This recipe is a two-step Zap, which Zapier's free plan includes.
</Note>

## Before you start

* A Slack workspace, free or paid. If your workspace restricts apps, an owner or admin may need to approve Zapier.
* Darwin added to your Zapier account and a Darwin key for Zapier. [Connect Zapier](/integrations/zapier) covers both in two minutes.

## Alert a channel when a visitor asks for a person

<Steps>
  <Step title="Choose the Darwin trigger">
    In Zapier, create a Zap. For the trigger, choose **Darwin** and the event **Visitor Asked for a Person**. Connect your Darwin account with the key, then select **Test trigger** to load a sample.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add the Slack action">
    Choose **Slack** as the action app and the event **Send Channel Message**, connect Slack, and pick the channel, for example `#sales`.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Map the fields">
    Write the message and insert Darwin's fields where you want them. For example:

    | Slack field | Darwin field |
    | - | - |
    | Message Text | `{{Full name}} ({{Email}}) asked for a person on {{Page URL}}: {{Why they asked for a person}}. Open the chat: {{Darwin url}}` |
    | Bot Name | `Darwin` |
  </Step>

  <Step title="Test and publish">
    Test the action, check the result in Slack, then publish the Zap. The next request for a person shows up in the channel within seconds.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## More alerts worth setting up

* **New Lead** to `#leads`, with the visitor's name, email, page and **Darwin url**.
* **Meeting Booked** to your team channel, with the meeting time.
* **Opening Test Winner** to your marketing channel, when Darwin finds a better opening line.

## Good to know

* Each alert is its own two-step Zap, so all of them work on Zapier's free plan.
* To message one person instead of a channel, use **Send Direct Message**.
