# Darwin glossary

> Plain-language definitions for the terms you see in the workspace.

| Term                              | Meaning                                                                                            |
| --------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Workspace**                     | One organization’s assistant, members, knowledge, data, settings, and billing.                     |
| **Launcher**                      | The floating button that opens the chat.                                                           |
| **Opening / teaser**              | The message beside the launcher that invites a visitor to engage.                                  |
| **Welcome experience**            | The greeting and suggested questions inside the opened chat.                                       |
| **Knowledge**                     | Readable website pages and business context available to the assistant.                            |
| **Control / original**            | The opening against which challengers are compared in an experiment.                               |
| **Variant / challenger**          | An alternative opening or eligible reply-button copy in a test.                                    |
| **Impression**                    | A recorded exposure to an opening variant.                                                         |
| **Promotion**                     | Applying a selected winner as the live opening for its target.                                     |
| **Baseline**                      | The current starting copy for a page; it can carry discounted historical evidence.                 |
| **Generation**                    | A step in a page’s sequence of tests and improved openings.                                        |
| **Page group**                    | Related paths that share an opening and test under a target pattern.                               |
| **Expected-value lift**           | Relative improvement in Darwin’s weighted outcome measure; not a guaranteed meeting-rate increase. |
| **Captured contact**              | A visitor whose contact details were collected, whether or not they booked.                        |
| **Recorded meeting**              | A booking outcome recorded against a conversation.                                                 |
| **Billable booking**              | A verified, Darwin-attributed booking accepted into the usage ledger.                              |
| **Included booking**              | A booking covered by a plan allowance instead of an overage charge.                                |
| **Optimized page**                | A page counted within the workspace’s optimization allowance.                                      |
| **Private review / mock preview** | A setup or testing state that does not prove production activation is complete.                    |
